2026 Registration Information
When and Where is it?
The 2026 Detroit Bassoon Seminar will take place July 9-10, 2026 and will be held at Wayne State University’s historic Old Main building in Detroit, Michigan. The address is:
Wayne State University - Old Main
4841 Cass Ave.
Detroit, MI
Important Information regarding event registration:
Who is able to attend?
All bassoonists aged 18 and older by the date of the seminar are allowed to attend, provided they are registered and have paid the registration fee. Bassoonists younger than 18 are also allowed to attend, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the duration of their stay at the seminar.
What about travel/lodging?
Unfortunately, at this point the Detroit Bassoon Seminar is unable to provide any travel or lodging accommodations for its participants, and as such they will be the responsibility of the participant. There are multiple hotels and AirBnB options within close walking distance of the seminar, and midtown Detroit is just a short Uber/Lyft ride from the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County international airport (DTW).
How Much Does It Cost?
Our main goal is accessibility.
For this seminar, we are asking a modest $40 registration fee (less than the cost of a single private lesson).
Will I be able to perform?
Due to time and space constraints, not everyone who elects interest in performing will be able to perform. As such, we are asking that any registrant who is interested in performing during a masterclass submit a sample of their playing via an unlisted YouTube video within 30 days of submitting their application. This will help us better understand what is the best fit in terms of demonstration level, repertoire selection, and time considerations. All registrants will be able to sit in and observe classes.
Anything else fun in the area?
Yes! Midtown Detroit is home to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Motown Museum, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and much more! All within walking distance of Wayne State University’s historic Old Main building. We would love to welcome you to the city!
